Favourite Albums of 2014

St. Vincent - St. Vincent
Best Album of the Year

I fell in love with this album when I seen St. Vincent back in February. The album sounds incredible live and Annie Clark's in your face experimental performance style really transforms songs like Rattlesnake and Birth in Reverse. Personally I love songs like Prince Johnny and Huey Newton because they really show off St. Vincent's raw talent. On Black Friday, St. Vincent released a 10 inch single as part of Record Store. The two new songs Pieta and Sparrow may give us an indication of the sound of the next album but who knows what Annie Clark has in store for us next.
Favourite Track: Prince Johnny

Dum Dum Girls - Too True
Favourite Album by the Dum Dum Girls

Too True is a tribute to rock n roll, teen gangs and canonical poets like Rimbaud and Baudelaire. The Dum Dum Girls are moving in the direction of the rock n roll golden years, of idols, poster boys and star crossed myths. An album with the atmosphere of a lost generation.
Favourite Track: Lost Boys and Girls Club

Haunted Hearts - Initiation
Cult Favourite

Haunted Hearts is a collaboration between Dee Dee Penny of the Dum Dum Girls and Brandon Welchez of the Crocodiles. Haunted Hearts would be at home in Studio 64, The Factory or anywhere where fur coats and tinsel are considered normcore. In Mojo, Dave Grohl described Haunted Hearts as a duet between Siouxsie Sioux and Lou Reed, which is everything you could ever want really.
Favourite track: Initiate me

The Raveonettes - Pe'ahi
Best Sound

Seventh studio album by the Danish noise pop duo and they sound better than ever. I look to The Raveonettes when Im in need of some sophisticated noise.
Favourite track: Sisters

Honeyblood - Honeyblood
Best Debut of 2014

Honeyblood is my favourite new musical discovery of 2014. The Glaswegian indie pop duo write songs about your life. Honeyblood as the perfect soundtrack to any teenager's daily existential crisis.
Favourite track: Killer Bangs

Alvvays - Alvvays
Best Summer Album

Play this album when wandering around a dead end town in late July or alternatively on road drive along the West Coast (oh I wish I didn't fail at driving). Message from Alvvays: be happy in the haze.
Favourite track: Adult Diversion

Wolf Alice - Creature Songs
Favourite Upcoming Band

Creature Songs is the second EP by Wolf Alice and their most promising yet. Moaning Lisa Smile is such a great song and I can't wait for their studio album.
Favourite Track: Moaning Lisa Smile

Karen O - Crush Songs
Favourite Solo Act

The first solo album from Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Crush Songs sounds like it has been written inside a music box. Lo-fi dreaminess and therefore perfect mixtape music.
Favoruite Track: Rapt

What are your favourite albums of 2014??

P.S. see how the descriptions get shorter and more vague, its called laziness haha

Christmas Cam

Merry Christmas Everyone :) I had such a nice day. I am literally so spoilt hehe
I decided to posts some webcam photos from my day, think of it as my Christmas photobooth

My parents gave me this black velvet peter pan dress from Oh My Love. I've always wanted a dress like this :)
Rudolf xox
presents :))) I actually got the best presents this year. My parents got me an ipod touch and my boyfriend got me a Tiffany's bracelet and super cool records. I feel so loved x
My new leopard print crop top from H&M
I hope youve had a nice day

Photo Diary November Spawned A Monster

Sorry I haven't been able to post in ages :( but I'm back with some amazing news ---> I seen Morrissey live!!!
He opened with the Queen Is Dead, followed by Suedehead. I have to admit that I did get a little emotional mid-way through Suedehead hehe The atmosphere was amazing and I loved every moment of it
The setlist mostly consisted of his latest album, World Peace of None of Your Business. I like the title track but I think a lot of the other songs are quite lame (sorry Moz). He finished with Everyday is like Sunday. I couldn't have asked for a better encore <3
Belfast City Hall
I went to Belfast a few weeks ago to see Robert Plant for my Dad's birthday. To be honest, it was a pretty awful gig. Robert Plant has lost all his ability to perform and every song seemed to drag on forever. I would have left early if I wasn't with my family. Despite that, I had a lovely day in Belfast :)
I went to see Chris for his 21st :) He got a new guitar for his birthday (its in the background) I christened it Keef
I bought a build a bear. I named him Mick Jagger because he looks so groovy
I went to the Manic Street Preachers at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin last weekend. They played The Holy Bible in full before playing another setlist. I managed to dance to The Holy Bible which is a victory in my eyes :P James wore a sailor outfit and Niki wore an army jacket/glitter hehe
Im so glad to be home for Christmas, Im going to sit back and be lazy mess for a month :L
