April Photo Diary: Easter, Pins, The Big Moon

April has been a quiet enough month because I've been trying to get all my assignments finished but I did manage to squeeze in a few gigs!

I went to see The Big Moon at Rise in Bristol. I haven't been to this record shop before and I really liked it, they have such a wide selection and they also sell vintage clothes. Downstairs they have a coffee bar and a stage. It was great to see The Big Moon again and hear some of their new songs for the first time.

I pre-ordered their new vinyl Love in the 4th Dimension with Rise and I was chuffed to get a limited edition vinyl :) They offer 10% off pre-orders for vinyl so its such a good place to buy new releases.

I also went to see Pins in Cardiff with my boyfriend. Pins are one of my favourite bands to see live. They just keep getting better. My favourite songs from the new EP called Bad Thing are Aggrophobe which features the one and only Iggy Pop and the song Bad Thing

They invited some of us up on stage for a little dance, as you can see I was really going for it :P

I went home for Easter this month and just had a quiet weekend, catching up on essays while munching on chocolate

We also had an 80th party for my grandad when I went home. It was more like a wedding than a party with the amount of food and music.

I wore this fab trench coat from ASOS over the tea dress featured in my last post. I also wore a fluffy peach bag and peach shoes. I've been loving this mac so much this month, its such a classic peach and the quality is amazing.

I went to a lock in at Cabot Circus this month. I didn't really see much that I wanted but I did pick up a few basics including this cute lover tee which is now sadly sold out and Joni shorts from Topshop. I also got this month's issue of Dazed and Confused because the interview with Lana Del Rey looks so good.

This is a picture from a few days ago when I got my hair-cut and I finished my last ever exam!!

Next month I'm going to Paris (again) and I'm going to see The Kills (again) I'm so predictable haha

Dream Wife Live at The Louisiana Bristol

I finally got round to making a video from some footage I took at the Dream Wife and Black Honey gig at the Louisiana in Bristol on the 3rd of October. The footage of Black Honey was too shaky because the crowd went so crazy when they came on so I only included the Dream Wife footage. In this video they are playing Lolita, F.U.U. and Hey Heartbreaker.

I have tickets to see Dream Wife again on the 19th of January in the Crofters Rights in Bristol and I cant wait! They are such a fun live band so you should go see them on their UK tour if you can. They are also playing at SXSW in the US in March :)

November Photo Diary: Paris, Pins and The Damned

this month I went to Paris for a weekend as a last minute birthday present for Chris, it was so nice seeing Paris in the autumn even if the weather wasn't great, the autumn leaves made up for it
we went back to the restaurant we loved last time, Zero Zero Sevres in Saint Germain des Pres, and it was just as good :)
on our first night we visited Serge Gainsbourg's house which hasn't been changed since his death in 1991 with his collection of art, furniture and instruments still intact. You can read more about it here

it is covered in lots of graffiti like this one of Jane and Serge

the next day we went to Montmartre because we didn't get a chance to see it last time, I really loved this area and its possibly one of my favourite spots in Paris now. We visited the Moulin Rouge and then had lunch in a cafe beside it

we also went to a market that morning and bought this France Gall record, there were so many cool ornaments and anitques, I would have loved to had an extra suitcase and the ability to haggle in French 😄

near the Sacre Coeur there is a square called the Place Du Tertre where you can buy art or get a portrait made for you

there are really create views from the Sacre Coeur, I would love to go there again in the Summer when its not as cloudy
Montmartre is full of cute little scenes like this one (btw you can tell Im freezing)

we also went to the Arc de Triomphe, it was remembrance weekend and the commemoration of the Paris attacks that took place last year so there were extra flowers laid underneath

it rained a lot that evening but the streets still looked pretty, we walked past the famous Cafe De Flore on our way to a metro station (a lot of the stops were closed for renovation so finding our way around was difficult)

on the last morning we went to see the Eiffel Tower again, this time we wanted to view it from the other side - here is me badly imitating this Francoise Hardy picture

we also accidentally found the bridge that is featured in the film Last Tango in Paris

I picked up a few souvenirs this time :)
another great thing that happened in November was the release of Johnny Marrs book. I started reading it on the way to Paris but I haven't been able to finish it because of uni work :( I can't wait until the Christmas break to finish it
I pre-ordered the copy from Waterstones so its signed too !!!

I also picked up a few things from Lush this month, I love the Christmas collection, I just want to try everything
its starting to feel a lot like Christmas, I havent totally gotten into the Christmas spirit yet but I've started buying presents for people and Im getting excited now, I really need to go ice skating or something to get in the festive spirit

we also went to see Pins this month at the Fleece. They were supporting Honeyblood and there set was so good. If you haven't heard of them already you should totally look them up because they are one of the best UK bands out there

I really loved this outfit I wore to Pins - the leopard print coat is from pull and bear, the mesh top from river island, the velvet bralet from new look, the velvet jeans from topshop and the boots from office (so much goes into an outfit 😅)

I also went home this month for the first time since the 5th of September, it was really nice being home and I made good use of my time by eating four meals a day hehe

I got my Christmas present early this year because I'm going home for Christmas soon and I wanted to set up the record player before I go. The turntable is by Audio Technica and the speakers are by Logitech, I'm really happy with them and I can't wait to play the records I bought when I didn't have a record player. I've been using my Dads record player for years so its so cool to have a new one :)

I went to the Damned for the first time on the last day of November. I seen them in Motion in Bristol which was absolutely freezing but there were so much fun and we had a great night :)

This post is so long, I should really start doing these updates weekly 😛 (the new emojis are weird but I still intend on using them)

October Photo Diary: Dream Wife, Black Honey, The Kills, Angel Olsen

October was basically a month of gigs, I love that I have the opportunity to see so many amazing bands, most of all, I finally seen The Kills ... twice!

I got the chance to see both Black Honey and Dream Wife which I wrote about in this post a few months ago. They played at the Louisiana in Bristol at the beginning of the month

Black Honey had so much energy and sounded even better live. I especially loved All My Pride and Corrine. The only thing I didn't really like about the show was the fact that so many people were packed into such a small room which was far too small for mosh pits. I was constantly falling onto the stage or into people. Hopefully next time I can see them in a slightly bigger venue :)

Dream Wife were supported Black Honey on their tour and I absolutely loved them. They remind me of bands like Bikini girl, they have such a cool girl power spirit and they sound incredible. I recommend listening to Lolita and Hey Heartbreaker. I can't wait until the next time I get to see them

I bought their EP at the merch stand and Rakel and Bella signed it. Rakel wrote something in Icelandic about me being a glitter queen :L

I also got a card about the song Corrine which is signed by Black Honey. Chris got a super cool enamel pin of the Black Honey logo

I finally got to see one of my all time favourite bands The Kills and they were absolutely amazing. They are too of the coolest people on stage. The songs from the latest album sounded so good live, especially Doing it to Death and Heart of a Dog. Hearing the slow songs live like Echo Home really made me appreciate them even more. We waited outside after the show for two hours but we gave up and went home because it was literally the coldest night we've had in Bristol

I wore my silver boots and my velvet jeans because you got to have cool boots on when you go see The Kills

The next day we went to Birmingham to see The Kills again!

I really enjoyed the show the second time around. They were super lively and sounded incredible. I just sang all night. They also played Last Goodbye in the encore which was a dream

I also met Allison and Jamie after !! They are literally the nicest people. We talked to Allison for a bit and I got a picture. I'm wearing my fur lined parka after nearly freezing to death the night before. We didn't get a chance to speak to Jamie properly. I kind of regret not getting a picture but I didn't want to be rude either

I really hope I get to see these guys again <3

We stayed in such a nice hotel in Birmingham called The Penta Hotel. We got the craziest deal on booking.com, I think it was like £54 or something. It has the coolest decor, a 24 hour bar, pool tables, a pinball machine, a PlayStation and even a mac computer, how lush. It's also right in the centre so we were able to walk to the Olympia. I really wouldn't stay anywhere else in Birmingham after staying in this hotel

We discovered such a good DVD store in Bristol called Fopp. They have amazing prices for arty movies and brands like Arrow. They also have reasonably priced vinyl and books. I think they have stores across the UK so I would definitely recommend visiting one if you can. I cant wait to watch these, especially Red Desert as its been on my watchlist for years

A picture of me before leaving for Angel Olsen, I really love this top from H&M, I think it looks really cool with my hair

Angel Olsen sounds so good live. I know I've said that about everyone in this post but everyone in hear band are just amazing musicians. We arrived pretty late to the gig so we were pretty far back but it was nice just listening to the band. The crowd was super quiet and docile - worlds away from Black Honey :L If you haven't listened to Angel Olsen before, I recommend listening to Shut Up and Kiss Me and Intern

I got my first Birchbox in October. I've always wanted one after reading Becca from Fashion Train's Reviews. The boxes in October were organized according to star signs, I'm actually a fire star sign but I was silly enough to forget to fill in my info before ordering it. There are still some really interesting samples and a full sized lip crayon.

I went to a Soap and Glory pop up event at my college in Bristol. They have such a cool party bus with music, makeovers, fake tattoos and a slide :L I also got some popcorn, a free sample and a discount code which I used to get a Supercat Liquid Eyeliner ... woo!

I have successfully joined the enamel pin gang hehe I got The Kills and Angel Olsen pins at the gigs, the rolling stones exhibitionism pin was a gift and the half heart is by the designer Hannah Kristen Metz, she is also a really cool blogger

I didn't plan for Halloween this year because I thought id be working. I think this makeup look is a last minute attempt at a demon/witch thing - the fake blood is really just Benetint hehe

Its not Halloween without sparklers

I got paid this month so I went a bit crazy and bought everything. I am so in love with this coat from Topshop. It feels like it was made for me, I just feel so cool in it. I got a pair of blue Leigh jeans from Topshop because I really need a comfy pair of everyday jeans. I also got the Topshop pleated trousers that so many people have because they are just so bloody comfy but also look really cool. I really love this star print dress from Nobody Child, I've only discovered them recently but they seem like such a cool high street brand. They have awesome designs for Winter. I also got a Lush bathbomb because its the ultimate treat :)

I have filmed some really cool videos at the gigs but I haven't had the time to edit them because of uni assignments :( I also haven't been able to find good editing software for Windows that doesn't cost a fortune (or is secretly a virus that tries to kill my computer) BUT hopefully I will get it together and upload it soon :) xx
