New Years Resolutions 2017

Looking back on last year's new year's resolutions, I realized that I achieved a lot of my resolutions but not always in the way I thought I would. I finished my degree but then I decided that I would do a Masters in a different subject. I found a job in Bristol but its part time along side my degree. I moved to Bristol like I planned and I went to lots of gigs including one of my favourite bands The Kills, twice! so overall 2016 was a good year. Like last year, this year's new years resolutions is more of a do to list with lots of goals that I want to achieve during 2017.

Finish my Masters

The most important goal of 2017, is to finish my masters. I'm doing a Masters in Marketing Communications which is a change from my undergraduate degree in English and Film. I'm really enjoying it and learning a lot about an area that I'm really interested in. I think the hardest part of this goal is writing the 15,000 word dissertation before September but I know it will be an amazing achievement.

Get an Internship

I really want to get an internship in marketing early this year or during the Summer. It would be amazing to be able to work in marketing part-time alongside my degree. I don't have much marketing experience and these days its what employers always look for. I'm going to get my CV looking sharp and start looking this month.

Pass my Driving Test

I really want to pass my driving test. I've been taking lessons on and off for about four years now but I've been away from home so much that its been hard to practice. I am considering taking my theory test in England and doing my test here instead of Ireland. It would be amazing to have the freedom of being able to drive and I feel like it will be necessary when I get a full time job.

Get a Job in Marketing

This is the hardest goal of the year and the one that is on every one of my new years resolutions lists. I will be looking for a full time job in Marketing in August and I hope that with a bit of luck I will find a job. I hope to have a job in time to move into a new flat in September so fingers crossed.

Learn the Bass Guitar

I'm looking forward to this one a lot. I really love music and I've decided that its not to late to learn an instrument I really like. The bass feels a lot more me that a guitar and plus I can play alongside my boyfriend. I will be teaching myself along with a lot of help from my boyfriend so it will take some serious practice but hopefully I will be good enough to play at an open mic night by the end of the
year!

Blog More Regularly

I really want to blog more regularly but I've found it hard towards the end of this year to find the time because I've been working in a restaurant and doing my masters. This year I will try to take some outfit pictures, some lifestyle posts and write a lot more. I want to use my blog to show that I can create more creative content. I miss the satisfaction of posting something different or putting together something you've worked hard on.

Travel

I really want to travel more this year, not only abroad but around the UK too. I really want to take a trip to Manchester, visit friends in Dublin and maybe travel to Europe. I would love to visit Rome or Venice.

I hope there will be a lot less celebrity deaths this year and a lot more positive news. I hope you achieve your goals this year too, happy new year :)

Photo Diary: Dublin, Cocktails, The Kills

May was very eventful. I finished college, moved back home and spent most of my time job hunting (still no luck!). I'm quite sad to have left Dublin and my little UCD circle but hopefully the next stage of my life will be as exciting. The first picture is from this post three years ago when I first visited UCD, I'm feeling pretty nostalgic
my film peeps
celebrating with cocktails
best cheesecake! If you happen to be in Donegal, I recommend The Yellow Pepper for eats
went for a little stroll along Dun Laoghaire Pier with Chris
pretending to be all chill (top and sunnies from River Island)
Dublin Castle - I've lived in Dublin for three years but I'm still sightseeing hehe

they make Penny Dreadful here so if you wanna be an extra ...
Chris is obsessed with Orchard Thieves, Heineken if you're reading (which I'm sure you are) please bring this to the UK!
visited my family in Carrick Finn, the beach there is so beautiful, even on a less than sunny day
my parents went to London and brought me back lots of goodies from The Rolling Stones Exhibition - people are going to actually think I went :P I wish I could have though, it looks so good
My parents got me these amazing boots from Office for my birthday (even though its 3 months away) I feel like Bowie in them
In March I pre-ordered The Kills new limited edition vinyl and I was part of the lucky 250 who got a signed zine with it :) woo!

I'm pretty unsure with how summer will go this year but I'm going to put a lot of work into writing and blogging

New Years Resolutions/ A 2016 To Do List

After recovering from New Years celebrations, I thought I'd bite the bullet and make a list of all the things I'd like to achieve in 2016. I don't plan on cutting out on anything, I'd rather take on new challenges and improve on existing ones.

Finish my Degree

My main priority in 2016 is to finish my degree. I've probably mentioned before that I'm currently studying English and Film at University College Dublin. I only have one semester left so I'm determined to keep my grades up. I'll be spending a lot of January reading and preparing for next semester in order to keep the final year stress to a minimum.

Exercise

My second new year's resolution is the most typical but for me its a long time due. As someone who spends a substantial amount reading or sitting at a laptop, my fitness level is basically at zero. I plan on walking to college in the morning instead of taking a bus and going to the gym on the weekends.

Learn How To Cook

I really want to achieve this resolution because I'm really tired of eating boring meals. I find it really hard to cook in college because for one thing I have a really tight budget when it comes to grocery shopping and secondly I get home late during the weekdays and I usually resort to oven chips and salad. I really want to learn how to make substantial vegetarian food. I'd also love to make my own sauces from scratch. Admittedly, I made this resolution last year but I think this year I will finally learn how to make a meal that myself and others will enjoy!

Find a Job

This is the most challenging task of 2016. I will be finishing college next May and I'll be looking for a job almost immediately. I will be applying for jobs in Bristol so I will spending my Christmas break researching jobs and figuring out the job-searching process. If anyone has any advice about looking for a job in a different country or any stories about their experience landing a job then leave a comment below, it will be much appreciated :)

Move House

I'm really excited about the prospect of moving into a new flat with my boyfriend. I've been living in Dublin with other students for the best part of three years so I'm looking forward to making my new place feel more like home and decorating it with various pictures of bands hehe. However, I'm also a little apprehensive about the prospect of moving country and looking for a flat in a completely new city, I intend on moving from Dublin to Bristol. It will take time to get used to a new area but I'm really excited to start a new chapter of my life.

Go to More Gigs

In 2015 I saw my boys Johnny Marr and Morrissey so it was a pretty good year. Next year I want to go to a lot more gigs. I have tickets for Wolf Alice in March but I'd also love to go to a festival in Manchester called Cosmosis, the lineup is so good. I'd also love to see The Kills live, they are releasing an album this year so hopefully they will tour in the UK

Write More

This resolution is along the lines of the compulsory "must blog more" resolution but I also intend on figuring out what kind of things I like to write about. I plan on writing more reviews and personal posts in order to find a personal writing style. As I'm finishing college in May, I'd like to maintain my writing skills by trying to write a little everyday. I also think reading is very important to creative writing so I intend on continuing the habit of regularly reading. Last year I made a reading challenge on goodreads to read at least 15 books in 2015. I ended up reading 19 books last year so this year I will set the target for 20 books.

Take more pictures

My final resolution for 2016 is to take  more pictures. I will be going through a lot of new experiences this year and I'd like to capture a lot of the memories along the way. I want to finally figure out how to use my dslr camera properly and I also want to take more photographs on disposable cameras. I plan on printing out a lot of the pictures that I've taken on my iphone and putting them in photo albums. I just love looking back on old photographs.

I hope you all have a good 2016!

Bedroom Makeover

I'm moving back to Dublin tomorrow and I'm so sad to be leaving my room. I'm so emotionally attached to all my things that I'm bringing like four suitcases with me!
I decorated my room about a month ago and I love how it looks. I painted the walls and put up the wallpaper with my mum so I've learnt a lot about DIY and why not to do it yourself! still, it does give you some satisfaction to see it all finished
I got the bed linen and cushion from Penneys the pillow is from Matalan :) The wallpaper is from Harry Corry.
I have two posters on either side of my bed. I got The Smiths one with the Rank vinyl. I have side panels by my bed that I like to keep little knick knacks in. I also have a blue lava lamp as a tribute to the 90s
My bedside locker featuring the book I'm currently reading. Its called Champagne Supernovas its about the fashion industry in the nineties and focuses on Kate Moss, Alexander Mc Queen and Marc Jacobs. The blue desk lamp is from Dunnes Stores
I got the Blondie poster with the 40th anniversary vinyl and I got The Beatles lunchbox at The Beatles themed Cirque du Soleil show that I went to about four years ago. I like to keep all my ticket stubs in it. I also have a Diana F+ camera that I bought from Amazon and a Polaroid that I got at a second hand shop
My Andy Warhol Marilyn Monroe box print is sitting by my bed at the moment because I havent fixed it on the wall yet. I bought it at the Andy Warhol exhibition at the Mac in Belfast a few years ago
A Blow Up poster that I got from ebay
curtain and tassel from Harry Corry
I still have glow in the dark solar system stickers on my ceiling that I put up there when I was eight, I wanted to do the whole ceiling at the time
I got this 5x4 photo frame from Penneys
My desk featuring a clock from TK Maxx , a memory box and some of my books
notebooks :)
some of my favourite books
some ticket stubs and pictures of idols. I got the mirror from a second hand shop and I decorated the light switch with stickers
I got these white rose fairy lights from Penneys
my record player and record collection featuring my beloved Smiths boxset. The record player is my dads so its very old and very big! it also has a cassette player and cd changer
My dressing table has been taken over by my record player and jukebox but in the middle I like to keep lots of trinkets, jewellery and perfume. I tend to gather a lot of trinkets but I put a lot of it away this week because I was struggling to see my mirror!

I hoped you like my room tour :)
